Madi grew up in the Bay Area and made her way down the coast to UC Santa Barbara for college. Her passion for food justice work was sparked while making sandwiches at the Isla Vista Food Cooperative. She realized the power that food equity has to strengthen and empower communities, and has dedicated her career to helping get nutritious food into the hands of those who need it most. She’s delved into a number of different avenues for improving our food system—startups, food cooperatives, farms, nonprofits, mutual aid groups—and is so excited to continue this work with Food Forward! When she’s not chatting with volunteers, you can find Madi photosynthesizing on the Elysian Trail, working on an art project with her friends, or collecting tchotchkes at a flea market.
